Hermes – Marble Bust Texturing Study is a material development and visualization study exploring the appearance of aged marble through physically based texturing and rendering techniques. Using a classical sculpture as the base asset, the project focuses on recreating the subtle characteristics of weathered stone, including mineral variation, surface staining, edge wear, and fine micro-detail to achieve a believable historical appearance.

The workflow combined Autodesk 3ds Max for scene preparation, Substance Painter for procedural material development, and i-Ray for physically accurate rendering. Particular attention was given to balancing color variation, roughness response, and surface imperfections while preserving the elegant proportions of the original sculpture. The final presentation demonstrates how carefully developed materials and lighting can transform a simple digital asset into a convincing museum-quality visualization.
