This architectural study explores the intricate geometry of the iconic rose window from the Cathédrale Notre-Dame d’Amiens, one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Modeled in Plasticity and prepared for presentation in 3ds Max, the project focuses on radial symmetry, ornamental tracery, and the structural harmony that defines historic Gothic window design.
Particular attention was given to geometric precision, curvature continuity, repeating patterns, and the balance between positive and negative space. The study investigates how historic architectural ornamentation can be translated into clean digital geometry while preserving the elegance, rhythm, and visual identity of the original composition.
This clay presentation highlights form development, geometric accuracy, and surface continuity without the influence of materials, reflections, or textures. It allows the intricate tracery, structural composition, and overall design language to remain the primary focus of the study.
The original rose window design belongs to Cathédrale Notre-Dame d’Amiens and its respective rights holders.
