Star Wars Droid

Star Wars Droid Clay Model
This hard-surface modeling study explores the design language of a spherical science-fiction droid inspired by the Star Wars universe. Developed in Autodesk Inventor and prepared for presentation in 3ds Max, the project focuses on mechanical proportions, panel segmentation, and the relationship between functional engineering and recognizable cinematic design.
Particular attention was given to body construction, recessed panel layouts, mechanical detailing, symmetry, and the balance between primary and secondary forms. The study investigates how clean industrial design principles can be applied to a character-inspired robotic asset while preserving visual clarity, production-ready geometry, and structural consistency.
The clay presentation highlights form development, mechanical precision, and surface continuity without the influence of materials, reflections, or textures. This allows the model’s construction, silhouette, engineering logic, and overall design language to remain the primary focus of the study.
Star Wars and related designs are the intellectual property of Lucasfilm Ltd. and The Walt Disney Company.
